Rula Hajj-Ali, MD

Rula Hajj-Ali, MD is a Professor of Medicine and Associate Director of the Vasculitis Center for Care and Research, Department of Rheumatic and Immunologic Disease and the Vice Chair for Medical Subspecialty Institute at the Cleveland Clinic, she is board-certified in internal medicine and Rheumatology.

Dr. Hajj-Ali has a particular interest in systemic inflammatory disease and vascular inflammatory disease including systemic vasculitis, central nervous system vasculitis and inflammatory eye disease. Her clinical and research interests include central nervous system vasculitis, giant cell arteritis, Behçet’s Disease, Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis and Inflammatory Eye diseases. Dr. Hajj-Ali is the Founder and Director of many Multidisciplinary programs including the CNS vasculitis Clinic and the Inflammatory Eye Disease Clinic.

Dr. Hajj-Ali holds the alpha omega alpha honor and was elected as “America’s Top Physicians “and received the Cleveland Society of Rheumatology Best Fellow award, and the Clinical Research Award from the American Heart Association. She has been awarded the “Teacher of the Year award “in recognition to her excellence and dedication to the education of the fellows, residents and medical students. She has been elected by her peers as the “Best Doctors in America” and received the Castle Connolly Top Doctor for 2019 and 2020 along the Castle Connolly’s Exceptional Women in Medicine award.

She has lectured at various national and international scientific meetings. Her work in CNS vasculitis has been published in leading professional and scientific journals. She is the author of multiple chapters in major books for the topic of CNS vasculitis. She chairs the international consortium for the longitudinal Study for Central Nervous System Vasculitis.
Dr. Hajj-Ali is a member of numerous societies including the American College of Rheumatology and American College of Physicians. She is currently a consultant for the Vasculitis Foundation. She has served repeatedly in several committees for the American College of Rheumatology. Dr. Hajj-ali has lectured nationally and internationally on the subjects of Vasculitis, CNS vasculitis and inflammatory eye diseases.
